The apparatus has blow mold comprising mold portions (4a) which form a cavity in interior of plastic preforms. The mold portions are positioned at the shell portions in detachable manner. A holding device has an actuating portion (140) extending through a wall of the shell portions. The actuating portion is provided with a first retaining element for holding the mold portions. An independent claim is included for method for securing blow mold to shell portions.
