1302633 Voltage stabilizing tubes PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 19 April 1971 [14 March 1970] 23802/71 Heading H1D A voltage stabilizing tube including two electrodes 8, 9 between which a glow discharge can be caused has an opaque getter coating 10 on the entire inner side of the wall 1 of the tube, the coating consisting of at least one oxide and the electrodes being of uncoated metal. The coating may consist of a triple oxide, particularly oxides of barium, strontium and calcium. The coating may be provided by coating the electrodes with the carbonates, heating the carbonates to form the oxides and sputtering the oxides on to the wall until no oxide remains on the electrodes. A typical tube has electrodes 6 mm. long, spaced 1 mm. apart and a filling of argon and neon.
|
