<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative resist composition for color filter, which is excellent in pigment dispersibility and alkali developability. <P>SOLUTION: The negative resist composition includes a pigment dispersant, the pigment dispersant being a graft copolymer containing a nitrogen-containing monomer represented by general formula (I) or the like as a copolymerizing component, in which the amino group of the nitrogen-containing monomer forms a salt with an acidic sulfate and/or a sulfonic compound.
