<p>1338431 Labelling apparatus SATO KENKYUJO KK 19 April 1971 [31 Jan 1970] 20550/71 Heading B8F A labelling apparatus includes a mechanism which separates labels from a backing strip by peeling back the strip relatively to the labels without the need for a direction inverting corner. The labels are dispensed from a label tape Da comprising a continuous strip of base material 39 and a continuous strip of label material adhering laminately thereon. At constant intervals incisions 48, 49 are provided in the tape defining label units. The tape, sliding on guide member 43, is moved towards a discharge opening 44 by a feed pawl 30 which engages the incisions, and the backing material is peeled off by roll 37. In the position shown in Fig. 3 approximately one half label length of backed label projects into a gap 56 with a slack portion d of backing material in a doubled back position beneath it. Pivoting a lever 3 clockwise about pivot 2 causes the feed pawl 30 to retract to the position shown dotted while roll 37 is rotated and draws in one label length of backing material. In this operation slack d is taken up and the backing peeled from the projecting half label to take up the dotted position. On release of the lever 3 roll 37 is stationed by a spring 46 while a return spring 4 causes the feed pawl to advance a label length of tape. The backing is thus peeled off the remaining half of the label and occupies the gap 56 as new slack d beneath the first half of the next label, as shown in Fig. 3. The tape D is fed from roll Da over guide plate 58 to the outlet 44. The hand lever 3, advances roll 37 by means of a pawl 42 acting on a ratchet fast with the roll and acts on a lever 6, pivoted at 5, which retracts the feed pawl and presses a printing device A on to each label before discharge. When putting tape into the device, bottom plate 51 opens, freeing spring 40 from roll 37 and allowing guide member 43 to swing down about pivot 43a for easy threading of the tape.</p> |
