PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discriminate in a short time whether gas is leaking, whether a gas appliance equipped with a pressure regulating means is in use or whether a gas appliance not equipped with the pressure regulating means is in use. SOLUTION: This gas leakage and gas appliance discriminating device comprises a pressure detecting part 1 detecting the pressure of gas flowing in a gas passage repeatedly at predetermined time intervals, and a control part 6 discriminating at least one of whether gas is leaking, whether the gas appliance equipped with the pressure regulating means is in use or whether the gas appliance not equipped with the pressure regulating means is in use, when the gas appliance connected to the downstream side of the gas passage starts using gas or the gas appliance changes the quantity of gas used, or based on features of vibration waveform of pressure repeatedly detected by the pressure detecting part 1 within a fixed time from the occurrence of gas leakage.
