摘要 <p>1368120 Optimizing processes BAGGERMAATSCHAPPIJ BOS & KALIS BV 29 Nov 1971 [1 Dec 1970] 55350/71 Heading G4G Apparatus for determining the optimum loaded condition of a carrier which is loaded at a decreasing rate as the rate increases, comprises means for measuring the instant load for forming the quotient of the load and the time elapsed since the commencement of the loading cycle, and means for indicating when the rate of change of this quotient is zero. In the case of a hopper barge, the rate of loading decreases when the hold overflows with loss of solid material. At a time F (Fig. 2), the weight of solid/water mixture in the hold exceeds the weight of water in a water-filled hold. At time B, the hold starts to overflow, and at time C, the loading is terminated. The time-elapse between C and A (or A<SP>1</SP>) represents discharge and travel time to and from the discharge site. The zero of the time cycle, from which T is measured is C (or C<SP>1</SP>), and the " production " cycle starts at F when the useful load just exceeds zero. A pneumatic draughtmeter generates an air pressure proportional to hydrostatic pressure at a point on the hull below water line. This is converted to an electric signal which is compared with a fixed voltage proportional to a (Fig. 1) to yield a useful load signal L. A time-proportional voltage generator provides a signal T and a quotient generator provides a signal L/T which is fed to a recorder observed by the skipper. The optimum loading condition is reached when the recorder indicates that d/dt(L/T)=0.</p>
