<p>1300876 Railway vehicles SCHWEIZERISCHE LOKOMOTIV-UND MASCHINEN-FABRIK 13 May 1971 [31 May 1970] 14636/71 Heading B7L A powered rail vehicle has a rigid body 1 resiliently supported on powered track engaging- bogies I, II and III by controllable springs, e.g. pneumatic springs 2, each spring airchamber being connected by a flexible tube 7 to a duct 6 provided with stop valves 8 and 9 so connected that the two leading springs considered in the direction of travel A, i.e. of bogies I and II, support identical loads. If the direction of travel is reversed the stop valves 8 and 9 are changed such that the airchambers of the springs on the bogies II and III are connected. Compressed air is provided through a non-return valve 10, a storage vessel 11, and a non-return valve 12 to a duct 13 which communicates with level regulators 15 each attached to the body, with a regulating lever 16 attached to either of bogies I or III. The level regulators supply air to or bleed air from the duct 6 to retain the level of the vehicle body. In further embodiments individual axles may replace the bogies and any multiplicity of axles or bogies may be used, so long as this is in excess of three axles or bogies, such that at least half, but not all, of the controllable springs associated with the axles or bogies support identical loads.</p> |
