The container has a receiving container with a side wall, which circulatingly extends from a bottom along a longitudinal axis up to an upper edge. An inner space (104) of the container is defined by the wall and the bottom. A lid includes a cover surface (151) that outwardly and airtightly closes the inner space in a closed condition of the container. The lid includes edge regions (152-154) with a U-shape cross-section. An annular, outwardly opened receiving space forms a retainer for the upper edge of the container. The cover surface is arranged within the inner space in the closed condition. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for closing a sample container for calorimetric measurements (2) a method for closing a sample container for calorimetric measurements.
