An electrical transformer apparatus 1 comprises a first transformer 3 to convert a high voltage input to a low voltage output and a second transformer 7 to receive the low voltage output and adjust the voltage output of the system. The first transformer and second transformer are contained within a first housing 13. The first transformer and second transformer may be connected in series. The first transformer may be a low loss transformer to reduce power losses and increase the efficiency of the apparatus. The windings 9 may comprise high grade low loss copper. The core may comprise high grade cold rolled grain oriented (CRGO) low loss steel or amorphous core steel. The transformers may be immersed in a liquid, such as oil. The second transformer may comprise a voltage optimisation arrangement. The controlling circuitry may monitor the output of the second transformer and, in response, adjust the second transformer arrangement to provide a stable or constant output voltage. |
