The surge arrester has several traction elements (3a-3h) which are provided for clamping the discharge column (2) in the axial direction. The loop arrangements (4) are provided for radially surrounding the traction elements. The loop arrangement is provided with several loops (5a-5d) which surround the portion of traction elements. The guide element (6) is made of electrical conductive material.
