<p>1407414 Copolymerization of mono olefins and conjugated diolefins SNAMPROGETTI SpA 24 Nov 1972 [26 Nov 1971] 54523/72 Heading C3P A copolymer is produced by copolymerizing a system of monomers each containing at least 4 carbon atoms and consisting of one or more monoolefins and one or more conjugated diolefins in the presence of a catalyst comprising (a) a compound of formula AlR 3 or AlR 2 X where X is halogen and R is a C 1 -C 10 hydrocarbon radical and (b) a compound of the formula where X<SP>1</SP> is halogen, Y is O or S and R<SP>1</SP> is a substituted or unsubstituted saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon radical, halogen or a group In the examples isobutene and isoprene are copolymerized in methyl chloride using AlEt 2 Cl, AlEt 2 Br or Al(isoBu) 2 Cl and one of acetyl-, pivoloyl- or acryloyl chloride, trichloromethylsulphuryl chloride, 3,5-dinitrobenzoyl chloride, 2,4-dichlorobenzoyl chloride and oxalyl chloride and the polymerization is terminated by the addition of methanol. The resultant butyl rubber is compounded with vulcanizing additives and vulcanized. The Specification refers to Specification 1,407,416.</p> |
