In the present invention, an apparatus for DAB reception and a method for DMB reception thereof are disclosed. According to the present invention, the DAB receiving apparatus comprises: a demultiplexer which determines a video format by using information data extracted from the DAB; a video decoder, which is a software decoder, for decoding a video image of a frame of the DAB with reference to the video format; a JPEG encoder, which is a software encoder, to encode the decoded video image into a JPEG standard to transfer to a data interface; and a JPEG decoder which receives the JPEG standard video image through the data interface and transmits to a display unit by decoding the JPEG.
