The present invention relates to a method for correcting an error generated in a current transformer when inputting in a remote terminal unit (RTU) of a supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) and, more particularly, to a method for correcting an error generated in a current transformer when detecting a maximum current inputted in an RTU. When the RTU for a power facility acquires a maximum current value such as a fault current or a lightning storke current through a current transformer, the current transformer generates a large error, rather than transforming a current according to a current transformation ratio, due to saturation characteristics of a current transformer in a maximum current area. The method for correcting the error comprises the steps of mounting an error correction device in the RTU; receiving an input of a secondary current of the current transformer by the error correction device; detecting a wave pattern in an electronic circuit of the error correction device; approximately calculating the property and the size of the maximum current according to the length of the rising time to the saturation point when the detected wave pattern reaches the saturation point of the current transformer; and inputting the calculated size in a main electronic circuit of in the RTU.
