Disclosed are a system and a method for managing a peer-to-peer connection. A second electronic device capable of being used in the peer-to-peer connection is detected by a first electronic device. A group owner intention value is determined based on one or more electricity properties of the first electronic device. The group owner intention value on the second electronic device is received. The determined group owner intention value is compared with the received group owner intention value on the second electronic device. A role of a group is assumed based on the comparison between the received group owner intention value on the second electronic device and the determined group owner intention value.
