Damping mass for ship located under hull - with streamlined shape under hull and with controlled ballast filling

The hull is stabilised by a specially shaped damping mass fitted on its underneath. The mass has a streamlined shape with the main cross section circular to the bottom and flat to the top. It is connected to the hull by a connecting duct member (4) through which water or other ballast can be pumped. This provides a controlled trim when the ship is empty or partially laden. For a fully laden state the mass can be vented and filled with air for extra upthrust. The mass is made from a strong plastic material for a simple construction.
