Electropneumatic drive with digital control - has motor driven deflector plate controlling airflow to slide valves of pneumatic motor

The electro-pneumatic drive is intended for use with "robot" arms where precise control of the position of the arm is required. The pneumatic is a multi-cylinder swashplate type running at high speed and drives an elliptical cam ring which generates a wave in the flexible toothed ring which meshes with the outer rigid toothed ring to obtain a high ratio of speed reduction in the output rotor. The travel of the pneumatic motor is controlled by the deflector plate driven by the electric motor. The deflector plate controls the flow air to the slide valves through orifices so that the pneumatic motor comes to rest as soon as the electric motor is stopped.
