Heat pump driven directly by engine - uses heat engine rejected heat for maintaining required temperature

The heat pump is directly driven by an i.c. engine which eliminates electrical transmission losses and ensures that it can be driven by a stored energy. The rejected heat from the engine is almost fully integrated into the input circuit of the heat pump and it ensures very high primary energy utilisation efficiency. The heat pumps are designed for optimum efficiency and the temperature level of the heat carrier is raised by the heat losses of the internal combustion engine. The combined plant can also have integral electric motor or generator for generating electric current. In this case the heat pumps can be driven optionally by the engine or by the electric motor.
