The present invention relates to a whitening cosmetic composition containing a fusiformis extract as an active ingredient including: a step of producing a fusiformis ethanol extract and fractions; a step of examining a B16F10 melanoma cell survival rate caused by the fusiformis extract produced; a step of examining the tyrosinase inhibitory activity of B16F10 cells and melanin synthesis-inhibiting activity caused by the fusiformis extract produced; a step of examining DPPH free radical scavenging activity caused by the fusiformis extract; and a step of verifying the inhibitory effect of the fusiformis extract about LPS-induced iNOS expression.
