The invention relates to a system and method for collecting data to be used for the detection and/or diagnosis of bone lesions, comprising the following steps consisting in: obtaining a digital grey-scale X-ray image in bitmap format; obtaining at least one area of interest of the lesion (AIL), AIL referring to a portion of the image suspected of containing a bone lesion; for each AIL, obtaining an area of interest on the contour (AIC), AIC referring to the zone containing portions of the image adjoining the AIL; calculating one or more parameters relating to the grey levels of the pixels in the AIL; and calculating one or more parameters relating to the grey levels of the pixels in the AIC.
