A process for the preparation of substance 1-(1',1'-difluoro-2'-bromo-2'-chloroethyl)- 5-methyluracil with potential physiological properties is carried out by interaction of known reactants and components of medicinal agents 5-methyluracil with halothane in molar ratio of 1:1 in the solvent system (benzene-dimethylformamide) under conditions of phase-transfer catalysis with dibenzo-18-crown-6-ether.
