Provided are a sliding member for which processing and precision is easily ensured even with increased size, a plain half bearing using the same, and a manufacturing method for plain half bearings. A sliding member (10) is a plate used in a plain half bearing. The sliding member (10) comprises wide sections (11, 12, 13) and narrow sections (21, 22). The narrow sections (21, 22) are sandwiched between the wide sections (11, 12, 13), and have a total width that is narrower than the wide regions (11, 12, 13), and a hardness that is higher than the wide sections (11, 12, 13). With one end in the plate thickness direction as one end and the other end in the plate thickness direction as the other end, the narrow sections (21, 22) comprise end faces on one side (211, 221) exposed at the one end, and end faces on the other side (212, 222). The end faces on the other side (212, 222) are exposed at the other end and have a smaller exposed area than the end faces on the one side (211, 221). |
