<p>Hollow gudgeon pin for IC engine piston is closed at each end by a plug of substantial axial thickness, e.g. a thickness equal to half the diameter of the bore into which the plug is inserted. The plugs are secured in position by press or shrink fit. Pref. the bore has in respect of each plug a shoulder (3) limiting the insertion of the plug. Also each plug may have at its axially outer end an axially extending rim, and the bore has a groove into which the rim is expanded after insertion to trap the plug in position.</p> |
