<p>PURPOSE: A sensor fusion type device sensing passengers for smart airbags is provided to easily detect a position of head as complicated time difference images are not generated and an algorithm is not used. CONSTITUTION: A sensor fusion type device (10) sensing passengers for smart airbags comprises a pyroelectric infrared rays sensor (100), an ultrasonic wave distance sensor (200), an infrared rays distance sensor array (300), and a processor (400). A plurality of infrared rays distance sensors of the infrared rays distance sensor array is installed in an in-position (IP) area, an out-of-position (OOP) area, and a critical out-of-position (COOP) in the horizontal direction. The processor recognizes whether or not the passenger boards, a figure of the passenger, and a position of the passenger based on an output value of the pyroelectric infrared rays sensor, the ultrasonic wave distance sensor, and the infrared rays distance sensor array.
