A terminal device and a method for operating the same are provided to allow a user to receive a visible feedback for input of the terminal device, thereby giving an interest in manipulation of the terminal device to the user. One or more non-contact type sensors(12) sense the movement of a finger. A controller(16) is connected to the sensors to control one or more LEDs(Light Emitting-Diodes)(14) based on a movement sense signal of the sensor. The LEDs are operated by control of the controller. The LEDs are arranged in a wheel configuration. The controller controls the LEDs to be sequentially turned on or off according to the movement direction of the finger. Among the LEDs, only one LED, which is the nearest to the finger, is turned on. The nearer the distance between the LED and the sensor is, the brighter the light of the LED is. A wheel-shaped frame contains the LEDs so that the LEDs are arranged in the wheel configuration. |
