The present invention relates to a system and a method for managing exchange and checking cycle of a rail for a railroad car. Provided are a method for managing exchange and checking cycle of a rail for a railroad car and a system for managing exchange and checking cycle of a rail for a railroad car which comprises: an input part for receiving risk setting information to set allowable risk of the rail and usage environment information of the rail for a railroad car; a calculation part for calculating exchange and checking cycle information of the rail by comparing and analyzing the usage environment information of the rail inputted through the input part with risk setting information; and an output part for outputting the exchange and checking cycle information of the rail calculated by the calculation part. According to the present invention, the allowable risk of the rail for a railroad car is set and the exchange and checking cycle of the rail for a railroad car is calculated and provided to a manager according to the established risk so that a fault on the rail on which the railroad car travels can be found early. Thus, malfunction due to rail loss can be reduced and derailment accidents can be prevented in advance. Also, the system of the present invention enables the manager to find the fault on the rail early and take a prompt action so that operational costs are reduced and resources for rail checking can be reasonably operated.
