PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an FFS mode liquid crystal display device that has satisfactory display characteristics free from seizure.SOLUTION: A liquid crystal display device comprises: an array substrate 1 having a display area 2 with a plurality of pixels 9; a counter substrate 16 arranged opposite the array substrate 1; and a liquid crystal material 17 sandwiched between the array substrate 1 and counter substrate 16. Each pixel 9 incorporates: an upper layer electrode 15 in which a slit-like opening is formed; an inter-layer insulation film 24 formed below the upper layer electrode 15 and having a predetermined dielectric constant; and a lower layer electrode 14 opposite and below the upper layer electrode 15 via the inter-layer insulation film 24. The lower part of an opening in the inter-layer insulation film 24 has an area with a dielectric constant smaller than the predetermined dielectric constant. |
