The method involves assigning a component catalog to the source-CAE system. Both the graphic and the meta data of component, and the corresponding coordinates from the data of the source-CAE system are read. The special portion is defined (10) with the graphic data and the meta data in the target CAE system and is inserted (12) at a point which is determined by the read coordinates. The data of the source CAE system is analyzed (2) and the transferable components are listed (3).
