[Problem] To inhibit brake drag in a vehicle while preventing the vehicle from sliding down when starting the vehicle on a slope. [Solution] When a vehicle has come to a stop on a slope, a propeller shaft (18) is set to a standby position closer to a lock position than a release position, that is, a first or second standby position from which a brake pad (11) can be pressed against a brake disc (12) more quickly. Consequently, a parking brake force can be generated more quickly in the event of an engine stall, so the vehicle can be prevented from sliding down. Furthermore, whether vehicle is in a state in which locking upon engine stall is unnecessary is determined, and standby state releasing control is carried out in order to promptly move the propeller shaft (18) from the first or the second standby position to a standby position for normal releasing when in the state in which the locking upon engine stall is unnecessary. Consequently, brake drag during the starting of the vehicle can be inhibited, and abnormal noises, vibrations, and overheating of the brake attributable to brake drag can be reduced. |
