The present invention relates to microparticles of chitosan hydrogel having a median size d50 of 1 to 500 pm (obtained from a number distribution), the chitosan having an acetylation degree no higher than 20 % and the concentration thereof in the hydrogel being 0.25 wt % to 5 wt % relative to the total weight of the hydrogel, for use in nerve-cell regeneration and/or in repairing the nervous system, advantageously the central nervous system, and/or in grafting nerve cells and/or in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases and/or in the treatment of paralysis; the invention further relates to an implant including an aqueous suspension of microparticles mixed with Schwann cells and/or stem cells and/or trophic factors.
