PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device for performing a time-division gradation display capable of arbitrarily setting a light emitting time of an EL element.SOLUTION: Brightness of light emitted by EL elements during at least one sustain period out of n sustain periods Ts1, ..., Tsn, is set to be always lower than brightness of light emitted by the EL elements during the other sustain periods, and the sustain periods are extended by the amount corresponding to brightness dropped. By such a configuration, the sustain periods are extended by setting the brightness of light emitted by the EL elements low. |
