PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for detecting automatically and efficiently whether or not a proper connection is made between a reprocessing device and an endoscope.SOLUTION: A device of this invention comprises: a supply source of a pressurized fluid composed of a gas only or a gas and a liquid; and a back-pressure detector connected to one or more channels to be measured in an endoscope 36"". A method of this invention comprises: a step of providing a supply source of the pressurized fluid; a step of feeding the pressurized fluid to a channel in the endoscope; a step of monitoring a time period, in which the back pressure of the pressurized fluid attenuates to a predetermined level; and a step of determining whether the channel is connected and opened, or not connected, by comparing an actual attenuation time of the back pressure with one or more predetermined values corresponding to one or more channels and models in the endoscope being reprocessed. |
