A flexible, laminated sheet material for making packages. Also a mfg. process and a plant installation for producing the sheet material. The laminated sheet is of the type which comprises >=2 layers, one of which is a thermoplastic material or mainly of thermoplastic material. The two layers are bonded together, at least along edge margins. The opposed surfaces of the two layers are sterile and require only a gentle force to separate them. Sepn. should take place at ca. 30 degrees C., but n ot at a sufficiently high temp. to soften the thermoplastic. The nature of the thermoplastic is such that it can be heat-seamed to itself or to another layer of the laminated sheet in order to make a hollow sealed package with a sterile interior. Sheet material for making sterile packages, partic. sachets, cartons, capsules etc. for pharmaceutical or food prods. more partic. liq., paste, powder or granular prods. The sheet material is supplied pre-sterilised. This eliminates sterilising just prior to filling, which can be an unpleasant and hazardous operation for the operators. |
