The present disclosure relates to a method of treating a slurry comprising a digestate from a biogas plant, which biogas plant is fed a feedstock comprising about 50 to 100 weight-% of products and wastes from farms, and/or food and beverage handling, said method comprising the steps of: a) providing the slurry comprising a digestate from a biogas plant, b) obtaining an acidic slurry at a pH of at most 6.5, by addition of an acidic material to lower the pH of the slurry comprising a digestate from a biogas plant, if the slurry comprising a digestate from a biogas plant is not already at a pH of at most 6.5, c) supplying the slurry with an iron salt, d) supplying the slurry with an oxidiser selected from hydrogen peroxide and percompounds, and allowing to react, e) adding a flocculating polymer to the slurry obtained in d), f) dewatering the slurry obtained in e), wherein steps b) to d) may be performed in any order or some or all may be performed simultaneously. |
