A single-substrate display panel and a manufacturing method thereof. The single-substrate display panel comprises a single substrate (10) and a display medium layer (13) on the single substrate (10). The single substrate (10) comprises a substrate and electrode layers (11, 15) arranged on the substrate, display media comprise movable charged particles, and the charged particles move on the single substrate (10) to display an image after the electrode layers (11, 15) are electrified. The single-substrate display panel can reduce weight and thickness of the display panel and improve the display effect.
