Apart from the actual counting mechanism, the electricity meter has a special counting mechanism (6) which is located in an additional casing (13) constructed as counting mechanism cap. The special counting mechanism (6) is mechanically coupled to the meter measuring mechanism (3, 4, 4a) and engages a worm (8) of the rotor shaft (3) with a worm wheel (7) through a cutout (10) in the meter casing (2). The meter casing (2) has a shoulder (2a) which is used for accommodating the additional casing (13). The special counting mechanism (6) is mounted on a projection (5) of the meter frame protruding to the outside through the meter casing (2). It is electrically connected to the actual electricity meter via a plug-in contact device (11, 12) and is secured by sealable screws passing through the counting mechanism cap (13). <IMAGE>
