PURPOSE: An adaptive transmission method and system using a multi antenna are provided to control the encoding mode of a digital video broadcasting system and/or the antenna number of a multi antenna system according to an estimated momentary SNR. CONSTITUTION: An SNR(Signal to Noise Raito) estimating unit estimates the momentary SNR of a receiver with the measurement of the momentary SNR of a plurality of receiving antennas(S22). According to an SNR estimate, a multiple transmission controller selects a transmission mode. The multiple transmission controller compares the estimated momentary SNR with a switching level set for switching between a plurality of transmission modes(S24). According to a comparison result, the multiple transmission controller selects one of the plurality of transmission modes(S26). |
