PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately estimate toner concentration for each sheet subjected to printing.SOLUTION: A calculation equation for estimating toner concentration is obtained using a multivariate analysis having, as parameters, developer characteristics, supply information and consumption information of toner, temperature and humidity information of an image forming apparatus, use period information of developer, and a development bias or a charging bias, or a development potential, or a quantity of light for writing. A developer characteristics detected every predetermined printing interval, supply information and consumption information of toner, which are reset every time that density control is exerted, temperature and humidity information of an image forming apparatus, which is detected in real time, cumulative use period information of developer, which is reset every time that a developing device is replaced, a development bias, or a charging bias, or a development potential, or a quantity of light for writing, which is detected when concentration is controlled, are actually measured. On the basis of each actual value, the toner concentration of two-component developer in the developing device is estimated from the calculation equation for each sheet subjected to printing. Thereby concentration for a subsequent image is controlled. |
