PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cloth backing plate which is prevented from forgetting its transport along with a wall paper pasting machine to an interior finish work site, and is prevented from being transported to a place different from that of the wall paper pasting machine thus causing loss thereof.SOLUTION: A cloth backing plate is orthogonally arranged with its rear face side made high in a front lower part of an automatic wall paper pasting machine, and receives a sheet-like wall covering material with its rear face pasted. The cloth backing plate having a width not exceeding the width between a pair of legs supporting both side parts of the wall paper pasting machine and a depth length during use enough to receive the wall covering material spontaneously folded according to ejection of the pasted wall covering material can be changed to that having a depth length in a reduction state which is shorter than the depth length during use.
