PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for performing a thermodynamic cycle.SOLUTION: Disclosed is a device comprising the following configuration for performing a thermodynamic cycle: a sample having a ferromagnetic phase transition temperature; means for magnetizing the sample at above the ferromagnetic phase transition temperature of the sample; and means for cooling the sample to a temperature below the ferromagnetic phase transition temperature of the sample, wherein the demagnetization of the sample generates an independent magnetic flux when the sample is below the ferromagnetic phase transition temperature. Disclosed as well is a method comprising the following steps for converting energy. These include: a step for supplying the sample having the ferromagnetic phase transition temperature; a step for magnetizing the sample when the sample is at above the ferromagnetic phase transition temperature thereof; a step for demagnetizing the sample when the sample is below the ferromagnetic phase transition temperature thereof; wherein the demagnetization of the sample becomes cause of the independent magnetic flux; and a step for converting at least part of the independent magnetic flux into an electric current. A similar ferroelectric device and a similar ferroelectric method are disclosed as well. |
