Provided is a wireless communication system whereby it is possible to improve the throughput of wireless communication by effectively using frequency resources. A wireless communication system in which a first wireless base station and a second wireless base station operate in collaboration with one another, the first wireless base station establishing communication with a wireless terminal in a first cell by means of an orthogonal frequency-division multiple access and the second wireless base station being able to carrier sense with the first wireless base station and establishing communication with a wireless terminal in a second cell by means of the orthogonal frequency-division multiple access, wherein: the first wireless base station is provided with an access right acquisition means for acquiring the access right once data to be transmitted are generated, and a use permission transmission means for transmitting, to the second wireless base station, a permission to use a channel that is not used in the first cell during the period in which the access right was acquired; and the second wireless base station is provided with a communication means for establishing communication with the wireless terminal in the second cell by using the channel of which the use permission was acquired.
