The present invention relates to a method for operating a system for automatic correction of orthophotograph using manholes. The method is performed by the system comprising: a ground control point indicator (100) installed to a plurality of manholes set to a ground control point of an area in which an aerial photo is taken to emit LED light of a specific wavelength upwardly when an aerial photo is taken; an orthophoto generating module (200) for correcting the topographic distortion of a photographed digital aerophoto to generate an orthophoto; a ground control point DB (300) for storing GPS information and altitude information at the ground control point; a digital map DB (400) for storing a digital map corresponding to the orthophoto; and an orthophoto correction module (500) for mapping the orthophoto to the digital map to correct the orthophoto, extracting, from the orthophoto, a manhole set to the ground control point based on an inherent brightness value of the specific wavelength, retrieving the ground control point DB (300), adding GPS information and altitude information at a corresponding ground control point to metadata, searching a point corresponding to the metadata on a digital map retrieved from the digital map DB (400), performing comparison operation, and correcting the orthophoto such that a relative position of the manhole set to the ground control point in the orthophoto corresponds to a relative position of the manhole on the digital map.
