A drum type washing machine according to the present invention comprises: a housing; a tub installed within the housing for storing wash water; an air flow pipe having one end connected to the outside of the housing and the other end connected to the tub; an air flow duct positioned protruding on the external surface of the tub and connected to the air flow pipe; and a water leakage preventing cap positioned on the inner side of the air flow duct, having one end facing the drum and the other end facing the air flow pipe, and forming a water leakage preventing structure in an inner space. The present invention discharges the air, not the water in the state that the water included in laundry tends to be discharged with the air into the air flow duct while a drum dehydrates the laundry at a high RPM by using the water leakage preventing structure formed on the inner side of the air flow duct. The present invention can enhance air flow efficiency of the air flow duct by discharging only the air, more prevent the wash water from being discharged and prevent pollution within the housing caused by the wash water.
