The method involves conveying medium from a tank with a closed metering unit by activation of a feed pump and by activation of the device for a return flow of the medium that passes back into the tank. The return flow of the medium is made in the tank through a feed path separated from a return flow path, where the filling and ventilating process is performed with ambient pressure or pressures near the ambient pressure and activated by a control device of the conveying and dosing system or through an external tester apparatus. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) computer program comprising a set of instructions for filling and ventilating dry components of a conveying and dosing system (2) a computer program product comprising a set of instructions for filling and ventilating dry components of the conveying and dosing system.
