PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve optical SNR sensitivity in the case of demodulating a polarization multi-value signal light.SOLUTION: A polarization multi-value signal optical receiver is loaded with a polarization multi-value receiver in which, when a reception symbol is defined as R, and at least one past symbol to be used for the reference of change is defined as A, at least one or more estimation symbols A1 to AN for estimating the state of the symbol A are generated by using the polarization state of at least one polarization multi-value symbol received at more previous times than the symbol A, values of past determination variables and determination results, and a reference symbol Ar is calculated by averaging those estimation symbols A1 to AN and the symbol A, and determination variables corresponding to the polarization state change of the reception symbol R are calculated by using the calculated reference symbol Ar in place of the symbol A. |
