PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner which reduces an idle defrosting operation and prevents stop of a heating operation and useless energy consumption due to the idle defrosting operation by improving accuracy of defrosting starting determination even when an outer air temperature is low.SOLUTION: An air conditioner includes: an outdoor unit having an outdoor heat exchanger; an indoor unit; and a refrigerating cycle constituted by connecting the outdoor unit and the indoor unit with piping. Further, a control calculation device for performing defrosting starting determination based on an outdoor heat exchanger liquid temperature, an outer air temperature and an outer door heat exchanger liquid temperature determination value is provided. The control calculation device performs the defrosting starting determination, measures a rising time of an outdoor heat exchanger liquid temperature upon the defrosting operation which is performed this time, compares the rising time with the determination value and determines whether the this-time defrosting operation is frosting/defrosting or is idle defrosting. When it is determined that the this-time defrosting is the idle defrosting operation, the outdoor heat exchanger liquid temperature determination value is corrected and, upon the next-time defrosting starting determination, the defrosting starting determination is performed based on the corrected outdoor heat exchanger liquid temperature determination value. |
