PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which: reliably detects that a lid body is not in a state in which it fully closes an opening of a housing; and realizes such reliable detection while suppressing increase in the manufacturing cost.SOLUTION: In an image forming apparatus 1, the open/closed state of a cover 32 of a housing 2 is detected by using an opening/closing detection switch and a distance measurement sensor 21. The distance measurement sensor 21 is arranged in a position facing a conveyance path 8 originally for detecting a deflection amount of a sheet passing the conveyance path 8. By using this distance measurement sensor 21, the distance between a conveyance mechanism body 41 and a separation unit 42 is measured. When the cover 32 is opened or when the cover 32 is partially closed, the distance between the conveyance mechanism body 41 and the separation unit 42 becomes greater than a prescribed distance. Thus, based on a measurement result of the distance measurement sensor 21, a state in which the cover 32 is open or a state in which it is partially closed can be detected. |
