A method for network coding by a relay node in a wireless communication system is disclosed. The method compries: receiving an information associated with channel estimation from a base station, determining a number of subset for network coding based on the information associated with channel estimation, receiving at least one codeword from at least one user equipment, and generating re-encoded codeword by network coding based on the number of subset, wherein the number of subset is calculated based on a first outage probability and a second outage probability, and wherein the first outage probability is outage probability of the user Equipment to the base station, and the second outage probability is outage probability of the relay node to the base station.
