PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lateral electric field type liquid crystal display device which is improved in pixel aperture ratio and transmittance.SOLUTION: In a lateral electric field type liquid crystal display device that includes metal wiring 30 formed on a transparent substrate 10, an inorganic insulation film 50 and an organic insulation film 55 formed on the metal wiring, and a first transparent electrode 60 and a second electrode 80 with a striped slit structure on the inorganic insulation film and organic insulation film such that the first electrode and second electrode face each other across an inter-layer insulation film 70, and drives liquid crystal by applying an electric field between the first electrode and second electrode, an output from a thin film transistor is electrically connected to the first electrode through a contact hole 45 penetrating the inorganic insulation film or organic insulation film, and the film thickness of the organic insulation film on the metal wiring is made larger than the film thickness of the organic insulation film in a pixel display region including the contact hole so as to form a projection part of the organic insulation film on the metal wiring, thereby forming a pixel electrode comprising the first electrode in an image display region including an inclined part of the projection part. |
