PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to reduce the number of recording media to be wasted during complementing processing for a discharge failure of a nozzle in an ink-jet recording device, and to enable simple complementing processing.SOLUTION: Detection patterns concerning respective ink colors are not individually recorded chip by chip but are recorded as one pattern. Accordingly, an area in a recording medium in which the detection patterns are recorded can be diminished, and waste of the recording medium due to pattern recording can be suppressed. In particular, when the present invention is applied to second detection processing of recording the pattern between areas, in each of which an actual image is recorded, among recording activities, an effect of waste suppression becomes more prominent. Control for recording of the pattern in a portion in which a nozzle overlaps or for detection of a discharge-failure nozzle and correction thereof can be further simplified. |
