Solid moulded cart tyres with transverse internal passages - to reduce tyre weight and cost and increase tyre flexibility

A solid tyre moulded on to a wheel rim incorporates a series of transverse lateral passages open at one or both ends. Pref. the passages are moulded by use of retractable inserts. Pref. the passages have inclined sides and are separated from each other by oblique ribs of constant thickness. The passages reduce the type wt. and increase its flexibility. The example describes such a tyre moulded of plastics material onto a hollow wheel which is an assembly of two prefabricated GRP mouldings. For use on low speed vehicles, e.g. handcarts or trolleys.
